Your privacy matters. This site collects very little about you, and it never sells your information. Here’s exactly what happens, in plain English.
Effective October 15, 2026.
Who we are
Letters From a Stoic (www.lettersfromastoic.net) is run by Stephen Pasquini. For any privacy question or request, email stephen@lettersfromastoic.net.
What we collect
- Your email address, if you sign up. When you join the daily letter or the Sunday essay, you give us your email address. That’s the only personal information we ask for.
- Basic visit statistics. We use Jetpack Stats (by Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com) to count page views, see which letters people read, and see which links get clicked, including Amazon links. Jetpack processes technical information such as your IP address, browser and the page you came from, and shows us only totals, not who you are.
- Server and security logs. Our web host keeps standard logs (such as IP address, browser and pages requested) to run the site and protect it from attacks.
We don’t run advertising networks or ad tracking on this site, and comments are closed, so we don’t collect comments.
How we use it
- To send you the emails you asked for, and nothing else.
- To understand which letters and pages are useful, so we can make the site better.
- To keep the site secure and working.
We never sell, rent or trade your personal information.
Email (Kit)
Our email list runs on Kit (formerly ConvertKit). When you sign up, Kit stores your email address and records basic email activity, such as whether an email was opened or a link was clicked. We use double opt-in, so nothing is sent until you confirm. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can leave at any time. You can read Kit’s privacy policy.
Amazon affiliate links
Some links go to books on Amazon. If you click one, Amazon may set cookies in your browser to credit the referral, and your activity on Amazon is covered by Amazon’s own privacy policy. We don’t receive your name or what you buy, only anonymous sales totals.
Fonts and other services
The site loads its fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google’s servers and shares your IP address with Google. The signup form also keeps a small note in your browser for the current session so it doesn’t submit twice. It’s never sent to us.
Cookies
This site doesn’t use advertising cookies. WordPress sets login cookies only for site administrators. Third-party services we link to or load, such as Amazon, may set their own cookies under their own policies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Your choices and rights
- Unsubscribe from any email with one click.
- Ask what information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing stephen@lettersfromastoic.net. We’ll respond within 30 days.
- Depending on where you live (for example California, the EU or the UK), you may have additional rights under local law. We’ll honor them.
Do Not Track
The site doesn’t change its behavior in response to a browser’s “Do Not Track” signal, because we don’t do cross-site tracking in the first place.
Children
This site isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has signed up, email us and we’ll delete the address.
How long we keep it
We keep your email address while you’re subscribed. If you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, we remove it from our active list.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we’ll let subscribers know by email.
